Shore Power Fault Diagnosis in Fort Lauderdale

Problem
The marina pedestal breaker tripped every time the boat plugged in, and the dockmaster flagged the vessel after reports of stray current near the slip. The boat faced disconnection from shore power.
Solution
We replaced the inlet and cord, corrected the AC grounding to ABYC standards, installed a new galvanic isolator and added ELCI protection at the inlet.
Outcome
The boat passed the marina’s electrical inspection, the stray-current readings disappeared, and the owner kept the slip — with a safer boat than before the fault.
